Ties to Nature
I use pastels and wood to create works that explore the intricacies of nature. The digital landscape that we are all immersed in has disjointed society from the physical landscape that surrounds us constantly. These works aim to reconnect the beauty found in landscape and our inextricable ties to it through the use of historic and ecological materials. Shape is repeated as a metaphor, to connect nerves to branches and roots, tissue to foliage, humanity to nature. Narration plays a significant role here, as figurative overlaps into the natural world. In an age where the digital perseveres, this work celebrates the ultimate tie we are all bound by.
